RENTAL & SHOP POLICY

Thank you for your interest in Sharkfin SUP Rentals. It is our goal to provide you with our travel-friendly, high quality paddleboard rentals that allow you to go out onto the water with ease, wherever you choose to be. Please take the time to familiarize yourself with our booking and rental policy before placing an order.

BOOKING

All sales are final and not eligible for a refund unless we (Sharkfin SUP Rentals Ltd.) cannot meet our commitment to deliver. Bookings can be made up to 12 hours in advance. By booking, you (the renter) acknowledges that you agree to our booking and rental policies, as well as the terms and conditions set in the waiver. Any specialty bookings made by phone require a credit card placed on file and a minimum 50% deposit, at time of reservation.

Bookings must be paid for in full 6 hours before the start of the activity, or may be automatically cancelled without warning. No refunds will be offered for the deposit if this occurs.

All SUP riders must be at least 16 years of age. Riders that are less than 19 years old require a parent or guardian to sign off on the waiver form.

RESCHEDULING AND CANCELLING

You can move your booking date up to 24 hours before the start time, subject to availability of paddleboards and equipment. Bookings that will occur within 24 hours may not be moved. No refunds are given for cancelled or missed bookings. We are sorry, but we cannot make individual exceptions. It is your sole responsibility to consider external factors (e.g., forecast conditions) in advance. Bookings will run, rain or shine, unless dangerous weather conditions make it unfeasable to run.

WaiVERS

A waiver is required to be signed before boards can be picked up. The link to the waiver is included in your booking email, or accessible through your customer portal (which is also available in your booking email ;)).

PICKUPS AND RETURNS

Please arrive on time to pickup and return your paddleboard kit, as Sharkfin works on a popup basis around the scheduled pickup and return times. Pickups and returns are outside the entrance to Fresh St. Market at Vancouver House. It’s just a few minutes walk from Sunset Beach!

Renters who do not arrive within 20 minutes of their scheduled pickup and return time will be considered no-shows; no refunds or credits will be issued as such.

Please also return your paddleboard kit at the scheduled time; late returns will impact the availability of paddleboard kits to other customer bookings. Paddleboard kits that are not returned within 20 minutes of the scheduled return time will be considered "late", and may be charged an additional $15/hr late fee, or equivalent to the cost of a full-day rental per day, up to the total amount of the equivalent paddleboard model listed in the fees below.

If you require out of hours pickup/return hours, please contact us to arrange a time.

BOOKING EXTENSION

Rental periods may be extended pending availability of bookings for an additional cost; please get in touch with us beforehand to see if this is possible. If you need to return a board before the end of your booking period, please get in touch with us to work out availability. No partial refunds will be given for early returns.

DELIVERIES

We are currently working hard on offering door-to-door drop offs elsewhere in the downtown Vancouver area! Stay in touch for further announcements

EQUIPMENT

We inspect all equipment between rentals.

Our default personal floatation devices (PFDs) offered are inflatable belts. These inflatable belt PFDs are manually activated (as opposed to hydrostatic or foam based) by pulling the inflation cord to inflate the PFD and offer floatation in the water.

Renters can supply their own PFDs at their own discretion; however, we take no responsibility for use of any equipment not provided by us. It is the sole responsibility of the renter to consider themselves fit for the activity of standup paddleboarding. Moreover, they should be comfortable in water and self-sufficient to help themselves in case of emergency.

We have a limited number of dual-floatation PFDs (Mustang Khimera) that have both foam and inflatable features, meaning that you’ll have some automatic buoyancy in the water. Please select the “Mustang Khimera PFD” option in the booking add-ons if you wish to replace the belt with the dual-floatation vest option in your rental (there is a flat $5 fee for the Khimera).

By law, a PFD must always be worn while in the water.

RENTAL RETURNS

We’re proud to partner with The Yacht Club Experience as our professional cleaning company, in order to offer high quality, clean equipment so that you can enjoy your time on the water as much as possible.

In order for us to preserve the quality of our equipment for renters such as yourself, we ask you to return the equipment in the same state you picked up. Please return the equipment following the guidelines:

  • Clean paddleboards and equipment of all sand and dirt

  • Wiped dry (a tarp, microfiber cloth bundle + spray is provided in the set)

  • All equipment properly in packed (please see the care instructions on how to pack)

A cleaning fee of $30 will be charged for any equipment that is dirty (e.g., trackpad stains), sandy or not properly packed (e.g., board is returned inflated). This is non-negotiable and solely determined by us.

To keep the boards as clean as possible, we recommend the following tips:

  • Always place the board on the tarp when setting up, and packing up the paddleboard set. Avoid setting the board down in the sand facedown, or on the grass.

  • Go barefoot when paddling; don’t stand on the trackpad with shoes. You get a better grip on the board when you go barefoot!

  • After paddling, spray the board down with water from our cleaning kit, or a garden hose if you have access to one. Wipe the board down with the microfiber cloth bundle. If the day is sunny, lay the board faceup on the tarp briefly in the sun to dry off some moisture.

RENTAL DEPOSIT

In order to rent any equipment, we will need to have a piece of ID and credit card on file. All rentals will be charged with a deposit of $250 ($220 equipment deposit + $30 cleaning fee deposit) on top of any rental bookings; we will pre-authorize your credit card for the order.

You will not be charged for the deposit(s) unless the equipment is not returned, returned damaged, or the board is dirty/sandy. Funds will be released within 2-3 business days after equipment is returned and inspected.

The following fees will be charged for any lost or damaged equipment, as solely determined by us.

Inflatable belt PFD: $175, vest PFD: $320
Electric Air Pump: $225
Lighting: $150 for Aurora Explorer Light (per LED bar), $60 for C-Light, $20 for clip on (per piece)
Cleaning Tarp/Cleaning Accessories: $20

An $8 fee will be charged for any CO2 cartridges that are activated in PFDs so that we can safely service and re-arm them for future use.


SHOP POLICIES

All shop items are considered FINAL SALE and are not eligible for return or exchange. In case of faulty or defective on the manufacturer's part, you can choose to ship the equipment back to us within 30 days after purchase. We will inspect the equipment, and offer to replace it or offer store credit, if we deem that it is due to a manufacturer defect. Final decision lies with us to determine any equipment defects or faults. You are responsible for all shipping costs.

Minor cosmetic imperfections are not covered as a manufacturer defect. Sometimes, a paddleboard that has entered on the water may show signs of yellow staining on the trackpad after a period of time. This is caused by the trackpad glue, and can be removed without damage to the hypalon (the canvas-like paddleboard material) with a spray. Please contact us for more details.

All equipment is subject to individual manufacturer warranties as is. If there was an error on your order due to our fault, such as wrong item shipped, we will credit a refund to the original credit card account used for purchase within 10 days after the return is received (return shipping costs are incurred by the buyer). Gift cards are not eligible for refunds except where prohibited by law.

Please allow between 3-5 business days (excluding weekends, holidays, and sale days) to process and ship your order.

We currently only ship within Canada. Shipping is done with Canada Post and charged at the lowest rate possible. Please contact us at sup@sharkfinsup.com for additional shipping inquiries if you are purchasing without booking.

SITE TRANSACTIONS

Sharkfin SUP rentals reserves the right to refuse, in our sole discretion, any bookings or orders placed on the site (including, without limitation, orders placed with incorrect information or errors in pricing, including, without limitation, any such errors made by us). We also reserve the right to change or modify any order placed on the site. In the event any order is changed or cancelled, we will attempt to notify you of such cancellation or change, but cannot guarantee that you will receive such notice. We reserve the right to change this policy at any time without prior notice.
